26 February, Monday - Day 55

We are camping at the Omarunga Lodge, along the Kunene river.  Under the Mopane trees.   We have the campsite all to ourselves.

Mr Owen is a local guide selling petrol by the bucket.

Woman washing not far from the Falls.

Others are down for a drink.
Slippery stones, a big Baobab tree and we are at the rift with the river some 60 meters down.

And then the Epupa Falls compared in volume to the Victoria Falls.   A fall of 60 meters before the river continues west towards the Atlantic Ocean.

Meeting the first Himba people.

Pearls and fancy hairdo’s

Banana leaf strings twisted with plastic « extensions » forming a thick collar around the neck.

From the back.

From the side.
Finishing the headset.

.... en voilà a proud and happy smile.

Evening « Stimmûg » at the Epupa Falls..   Shortly before 17 hrs the wind rises and with the thunder from the falls, the noise is more than impressive.
